(i) `CH_(3)-CO-CH_(2)CH_(3)` responds to idoform reaction (gives yellow precipitate) while `CH_(3)-CH_(2)-CH_(2)-CHO` fail to give.
(ii) Ethanoic acid gives a brisk effervescence with `NaHCO_(3)` solution while ethanal fail to do so.
