Let I= current through a conductor, R= its resistance and V= potential difference across its ends. According to Ohm's law, product of two of these quantities equals the third. Obtain Ohm's law from dimensional analysis. Dimensonal formulae for R andV are `ML^2I^-2T^-3 and ML^2T^-3I^-1` respectively.

If the strength of current flows through a resistor is I having resistance R and potential difference between its ends is V then the power dissipated is:

The heat produced in a wire carrying an electric current depends on the current, the resistance and the time. Assuming that the dependance is of the product of powers type, guess an eqn. between these quantities using dimensional analysis. The dimensional formula of resistance is ML^2 A^(-2) T^(-3) and heat is a form of energy.

Calculate the resistance of a conductor through which a current of 2A passes, when the potential difference between its ends is 30V.

The current in a conductor and the potential difference across its ends are measured by an ammeter and a voltmeter. The meters draw negligible current. The ammeter is accurate but the vlotmeter has a zero error(that is ,it does not read zero when no potential difference is applied).Calculate the zero error if the readings for two different conditions are 1.75A, 14.4Vand 2.75a, 22.4V.

A plate current of 10 mA is obtained when 60 volts are applied across a diode tube. Assuming the Langmuir-Child equation i_p prop V_p^(3/2) to hold, find the dynamic resistance r_p in this operating condition.

Three resistance 2Omega , 3Omega and 4Omega are connected in parallel. The ratio of currents passing through them when a potential difference is applied across its ends will be:

A capacitance C charged to a potential difference V is discharged by connecting its plates through a resistance R. Find the heat dissipated in one time constant after the connections are made. Do this by calculating int i^(2)Rdt and also by finding the decrease in the energy stored in the capacitor.
