Two wires A and B, having identical geometricla construction, are stretched from their natural length by smal but equal amount. The young modulus of the wire are `Y_A and Y_B` whereas the densities are `rho_A and rho_B`. It is given that `Y_AgtY_B and rho_Agtrho_B A transverse signal started at one end takes a time `t_1` to reach the other ennd for A and `t_2` for B.

A

`t_1ltt_2`

B

`t_1=t_2`

C

`t_1gtt_2`

D

the information is insufficient to find the relation between `t_1 and t_2`

A wire of radius r stretched without tension along a straight line is tightly fixed at A and B. What is the tension in the wire when it is pulled in the shape ACB? Assume Young's modulus of material of the wire to be Y.

Two wires A and B are of same material. Their lengths are in the ratio 1:2 and diameters are in the ratio 2:1. When stretched by forces F_(A)andF_(B) respectively, they get equal increase in their lengths. Then the ratio F_(A)//F_(B) should be:

A wave stretched between two rigid supports vibrate in its fundamental mode with a frequency of 45 Hz. The mass of wire is 3.5 xx 10^(-2) kg and its linear mass density is 4.0 xx 10^(-2) kg m^(-1) . What is (a) the speed of transverse wave on the string, and (b) the tension in the string?

Two long strings A and B, each having linear mass density 1.2×10−2kgm−1, are stretched by different tensions 4.8 N and 7.5 N respectively and are kept parallel to each other with their left ends at x = 0. Wave pulses are produced on the strings at the left ends at t = 0 on string A and at t = 20 ms on string B. When and where will the pulse on B overtake that on A ?

Two friends A and B are standing a distance x apartin an open field and wind is blowing from A to B.A beats a drum and B hears the sound t_1 timed after he sees the event. A and B intechange their positions and te experiment is repeated. This time B hears teh drum t_2 time after he sees the event. Calculte teh velocity of sound in still air v and the velocity of wind u. Neglect the tiem light takes in travelling between the friends.
