A convex mirror has its radius of curvature 20 cm. Find the position of the image of an object placed at a distance of 12 cm from the mirror.

The situation is shown in ure. Here `u=-12cm and R=+20cm`. We have,
`1/u+1/v=2/R`
or `1/v=2/R-1/u`
= 2/(2cm)-1/(-12cm)=11/(60cm)`
`v=60/11cm`
The position sign of v shows that the image is formed on the right side of the mirror. It is a virtual image.
