A current of `30 A` is registered when the terminals of a dry cell of EMF 1.5 VOLTS are connected through an ammeter. Neglecting the meter resistance, find the amount of heat produced in the battery in 10 seconds.

The current in the circuit will be
`I = epsilon/r`
or, `30A = (1.5V)/r` giving `r = 0.05 Omega`.
The amount of heat produced in the battery `i^2 rt = (30A)^2 xx (0.5 Omega) xx 10s = 450 J`.
