A thin metallic spherical shell of radius R carries a charge Q on its surface. A point charge `(Q)/(2)` is placed at the centre C and another charge `+2Q` is placed outside the shell at A at a distnace x from the centre as shown in the figure.
Find the force on the charge at C and A.

The electric field or net charge inside the sphercal conducing shell is zero.
Hence the force on charge `(Q)/(2)` is zero.
Force on charge at `A,F_(A)=(1)/(pi epsi_(0)) (2Q (Q+(Q)/(2)))/(x^(2))`
`=(1)/(4 pi epsi_(0))[ 2Q^(2)+(cancel2 Q^(2))/(cancel2)]=(1)/(4pi epsi_(0))*(3Q^(2))/(x^(3))`
