In a coaglation experiment 10ml of a colloid (X) is mixture with distiled water and 0.1m solution of an electrolyte AB so that the volume is 20ml . It was found that all solution containing more than 6.6ml of AB coagulation with in 5 minutes .What is the flocculation values ofAB for sol (X)?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

A minimum 6.6 mL of AB is required to coagulate the sol . The moles of AB in the sol is `(6.6xx0.01)/(20)=0.0033` moles
The means that a minimum of 0.0033 moles os `0.0033xx1000=3.3` milli moles are required for coagulating 1 litr of sol .Flocculation value of AB for X=3.3.

0.6 g of an organic compound was Kjeldhalised and NH_(3) evolved was absorbed into 50 ml of semi-normal solution of H_(2)SO_(4) . The residual acid solution was diluted with distilled water and the volume made up to 150 ml. 20 mL of this diluted solution required 35 mL of (N)/(20) NaOH solution for complete neutralisation. Calculate the % of N in the compound.
