Why a DC ammeter cannot read AC?...

Why a DC ammeter cannot read AC?

Text Solution

For direct current `X_(L) = 0` and `X_(C) = oo`. Alternating current varies in magnitude and direction periodically. But direct current is a unidirectional current and does not vary periodically. Hence a DC ammeter cannot read AC.

Why vitamin C cannot be stored· in our body?

A coil of inductance L, resistor of resistance R and an ammeter are connected in series with a 110 V DC supply. The ammeter reads 1.1A. The combination is then connected in series with a 110 VAC and 50Hz lines. Now the ammeter reads 0.55A. Calculate the values of R and L.
