When describing a skeletal muscle, what does ''striated'' mean?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Along the length of each myofibril of skeletal muscle there are a repeated series of dark and light bands. The dark A-bands (Anisotropic bands) and the light I-bands (Isotropic bands) are perfectly aligned with one another. This type of arrangement give the cells a striated appearance.
