Define cross pollination and explain its types.

The transfer of pollens on the stigma of another flower is referred as cross-pollination.
(i) Geitonogamy : In this process, the pollen deposits on the stigma of another flower of same plant. It usually occurs in monoecious plants. Though it is functionally cross pollintion, it is similar to autogamy because the pollen come from the same plant.
(ii) Xenogamy : When the transfer of pollen on another flower of genetically different plant of same species, it is called as xenogamy.
