Explain the technique of biological hydrogen production by algae with the aid of suitable diagram.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Photobiological splitting of `H_(2)O` is the technique used in the biological production of Hydrogen using algae. The algae, Chlamydomonas reinhardtii releases oxygen in normal photosynthesis. When it is deprived of sulphur, it switches to theproduction of hydrogen during photosynthesis and the electrons are transported to ferredoxins [F]-hydrogenase enzymes combine them into the production of hydrogen gas.
