Based on part of plant materials used the plant tissue culture techniques are classified into organ culture, meristem culture,protoplast culture and cell culture.
(i) Organ culture: It is the culture of whole organ namely embryos anthers, ovaries,roots and shoots in the culture medium under controlled condition.
(ii) Meristem culture: It is the culture of any meristematic tissue or culture media under controlled condition.
(iii) Protoplast culture: It is the culture of cells without cell wall, but bounded by cell membrane. It is possible to regenerate whole plant from this type of protoplast
Cell suspension culture: It is the process of growing or single or aggregate of cells in a liquid medium under controlled laboratory condition.
