(ii) Raise plants with increased tolerance to environmental factors like salinity, temperature and drought.
(iii) To prevent the premature falling of buds, fruits etc.
(iv) To develop plants that develop resistance to pathogens and pests.
(vi) To develop photosensitive and themosensitive varieties of plants.
