Jasminum is a floral perfume next to rose oil.
The essential oil is extracted from the epidernal cells of both sepals and petals.
One ton of jasmine flower yields about 2.5 to 3 kg of essential oil, which accounts for 0.25 to 3% of the weight of the fresh flower.
(i) It is used for worship and ceremonial purposes.
(ii) It is also used in incense and fumigants.
(iii) It is used for making perfumed hair oil cosmetic and soaps.
(iv) Jasmine essential oil is valued for its soothing, relaxing and antidepressant qualities.
(v) It is used in modern perfumery and cosmetics.
(vi) It is used in airfreshner, antiperspirants, talcum powders, shampoos and deodorants.
