The unicellular organisms which reproduce by binary fission are considered immortal. Justify.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

In binary fission, the parent organisms divide into two halves and each half forms a daughter individual. The offsprings are genetically identical to the parents. This the simple type of reproduction by mitotic cell division. Hence as long as the parent organisms are available they divide and establish the population. Hence this type of reproduction is considered as immortal.
