Colostrum is a yellowish fluid secreted by the mammary glands during the initial few days after parturition. It has less lactose than milk with almost no fat. It has more proteins, vitamin A and minerals. It has rich amount of IgA antibodies, which help the infant.s digestive tract against bacterial infection. Hence feeding colostrum is helpful for infants.
