Write briefly about oral contraceptives.

Explanation

Oral contraceptives are taken orally in the form of pills, used to prevent ovulation in females. They inhibit the secretion of FSH and LH hormones. Most commonly used birth control pills are combined pills, which contain synthetic progesterone and oestrogen hormones. Central Drug Research Institute (CDRI) in Lucknow, India developed a non steroidal contraceptive pill, called saheli.
