In honey bees , the sex determination is by haplodiploidy mechanism. In this types of sex determination the sex is determined by the number of sets of chromosome it receive . Fertilized eggs develop into femal honey bee and unfertilized eggs develop into males by parthnogenesis. Therefore the males have haploid number of chromosomes , where as the females haved double sets ie diploid number of chromosomers . This type of sex determination is called haplodiploid type of sex determination.
