The age distribution in a population refers to the proportions of the different age groups in a population. The age groups include per - reproductive, reproductive and post reproductive. Among these, reproductive population determines the reproduction status of a population at a given time. It is an indicator of future population size. Generally, the proportions of young individuals are more in a rapidly growing population reproductive age groups are evenly distributed in a stable population. Larger number of older individuals are present in a declining population.
