In both aquatic and terrestrial ecosystem, exotic species have proved ,harmful. They often become invasive and drive away local endemic species. They compete with endemic species for food, sheik , and reproduction
Eg: Tilapia (Oreochromis mossambicus) was introduced in India from South Africa io 1952 fonheir nigh productivity. In Kerala, it became invasive in inland-waters and native species such as Puntiua dubiua and Labeo kontius face local extinction due to alien species introduction.
