Train A crosses a vertical pole at the speed of 15 m/s in 20 seconds. Speed of train A is 3 m/s less than the speed of train B and length of train B is 30 meter less than length of train A. Find the time taken by Train B to cross 270 meter long platform.

A

20 seconds

B

15 seconds

C

The correct Answer is:
C

Let the length of Train A be L meters, then According to question,
`L/15=20`
`rArr` L=300 m
`therefore` Length of train A is 300 m
So, length of train B = 300 – 30 m = 270 meters
Speed of train B = 15 + 3 = 18 m/s
When B crosses a 270 m long platform,
Time = `(270+270)/18` seconds = 30 seconds
Hence, the required time = 30 seconds.
