A dynamometer D is attached to weights of mass M = 10 kg and m = 10 g. Force F=20 N and 10 N are applied to the weights. What will happen to the weights and what will the dynamometer show if:
What will the dynamometer show if the mass M = m = 5 kg?

Substituting m = M in eqn. (ii) or (iii), we get
`T_3=(F+f)/2=(20+10)/2=15N`
The tension in the spring is independent of mass in this case.
