Alkali metals are highly electropositive in nature. Therefore, they readily lose electrons in aqueous solutions, and act as strong reducing agents.
However, among all the alkali metals, Li has a very high hydration energy. Therefore, it gives up an electron most readily in water, and acts as the strongest reducing agent.
