Solve: Two resistors having resistance...

Solve:
Two resistors having resistance of 16 and 14 are connected in series, if a potential difference of 18 V is applied across them, calculate the current flowing through the circuit and the potential difference across each individual resistor

`R_(1)=16 Omega and R_(2) =14 Omega`
`R_(s) =14 Omega + 16 Omega =30 Omega`
Let the current flowing through the circuit be I and the potential differences across the end `16 Omega and 14 Omega` be `V_(1) and V_(2)` respectively.
`V=IR" "V=V_(1)V+V_(2) =18 V`
`I =(V)/(R )" "=(18V)/(30 Omega)`
`therefore I = 0.6 A`
`V_(1) = IR_(1)`
`V_(1) =0.6xx16=9.6 V`
`V_(2)=IR_(2)=0.6xx14=8.4 V`
`therefore` The current flowing in the circuit is 0.6 A and the potential differences across the end of the resistances `16 Omega and 14 Omega are 9.6 V and 8.4 V` respectively.
