Genetics is the study of transmission of characteristics ( both similaritires and difference ) from parents to offsprings , and the laws relating to such transmission

Mendel interpreted that these contrasting characters , tall and dwarf plants , wrinkled and smooth seeds ) controlled by "factors " .He considered each and events character as a unit , which is controlled by a "factor " . Why mendel called "factors " - the carriers of heredity information - are now known as genes .
