A train is travelling at a speed of 90 km `h^(-1)`. Brakes are applied so as to produce a uniform acceleration of - 0.5 m `s^(-2)`. find bow far the train will go before it is brought to rest.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Here, `u = 90 km h^(-1)`
`=(90xx1000)/(60xx60)ms^(-1)=25ms^(-1)`
`a=0.5ms^(-2)`
v=0
S =?
Using `2as = v^2 - u`, we get
`2 (-0.5) s = (0)^2 -(25)^2`
`a-s=-625`
`therefores=625m`
