Let the resistance of the wire originally .R. of length .L. and area of cross-section .A. with resistivity of material is .`rho`.,
Then `R=rhol//A`=40
Now, for new arrangement,
`rho.=rho`
I.=I/2
A.=2A
Thus,
`R.=rho.I.//A.=rho(I//2) +2A =!//4(rhoI//A)=1//4R`
`=1//4xx4 = 1Omega`
