If the ratio of the students who passed in the examination to those who failed is `4:1` for the class, how many students were there in the class?

So, total number of students who passed the examination `=(27+34)-1= 60` Let the no of students passed =4x and the no. of students failed =x [`because` Ratio `4:1`] Then, `4x=60` [`because` total passed students = 60] or `x= (60)/(4)=15`
