A breed is a group of animals related by descent and similar in most character like general appearance, features,, size configuration, etc. Red Dane, Jersey, Brown Swiss are the examples of foreugn breeds of cow. Objectives of animal breeding are
(i) To increase the yield of animals.
(ii) To produce disease resistant varieties of animals.
(iii) To improve the desirable qualities of the animal produce such as milk, etc, having high protein content, etc.
