Food chain The transfer of food energy from the producers through a series of organisms like herbivores to carnivores to decomposers with repeating eating and being eaten is called food chain.
Each level or step in a food chain where, energy transfer occurs is called trophic level. A single species can occupy more than one trophic level.
The most commonly occurring food chains in ecosystem are grazing food chain and detritus food chain.
