The correct Answer is:
D

Prophase which is the first stage of mitosis follows the S and `G_(2)` phases of interphase. In the S and `G_(2)` phases the new DNA molecuels formed are not distinct but interwined. Prophase is marked by the initiation of condensation of chromosomal material. The chromosomal material becomes untangled during the process of chromatin condensation.

Assertion: The final stage of meiotic prophase I is diplotene. Reason: Diplotene is marked by terminalisation of chaisamata.

Assertion: G_(1) phase is the interval between mitosis and initiation of DNA replication. Reason: The cell is metabolically inactive druing G_(1) phase.

The gas phase decomposition of dimethyl ether follows the first order kinetics as CH_3 - O - CH_(3) (g) to CH_(4) (g) + H_(2) (g) + CO(g) This reaction is carried out in a constant volume container at temperature of 500°C and has a half-life of 14.5 min. Initially, only dimethyl ether is present at a pressure of 0.40 atm. After 12 min, find the total pressure of the system. Assume ideal gas behaviour.
