The correct Answer is:
A

A microsporangium or future pollen sac is a cylindrical sac which appears circular in transverse section. It consists of two parts, outer wall and central homogeneous sporgenous tissue. Microsporangial wall has four types of layers-epidermis, endothcium, `1-3` middle layers and tapetum. The outer three layers performs the function of protection in the young anther and mechanism of dehiscence in the ripe anther.

Assertion : A typical microsporangium of angiosperms is generally surrounded by four wall layers - epidermis, endothecium, middle layers and tepetum. Reason : The outer three wall layers perform the function of protection and help in dehiscence of anther to release the pollen.

Read the following statements regarding the various techniques used in cancer detection. (i) Cancer detection is based on biopsy and histopathological studies of the tissue, and blood and bone marrow tests for increased cell counts in case of leukaemia. (ii) In biopsy, a piece of the suspected tissue cut into thin sections is stained and examined under microscope by a pathologist. (iii) Techniques like radiography (use of X-rays), CT (computed tomography) and MRI(magnetic resonance imaging) are very useful to detect cancers of the internal organs. (iv) Computed tomography uses strong magnetic fileds and non-ionising radiations to detect physiological changes in living tissues. (v) MRI uses X-rays and ionising radiation to generate a 3-D image of the internal structure of an object. Which of the above statements are incorrect ?

(iii) They are photosynthetic in the presence of sunlight but become heterotrophs in the absence of sunlight. (iv) They usually prosses two flagella, one long and one short. (v) Euglenoids are multicellular ciliate protists

Consider the following statements. (i) Polyspermy may bring about fertilisation of egg by more than one male nucleus or the supernumerary sperms may fertilise other components of embryo sac much as synergids or antipodals. (ii) In angiosperms, pollen tube is normally an unbranched structure which ususally persists after fertilisation. (iii) Intine is the inner, pectocellulosic layer of pollen grain wall which is destroyed during acetolysis. (iv) Exine layer of pollen grain comprises of an outer non-sculptured layer sexine and an inner sculptured layer tectum. Which of the following combinations of above given statements is correct ?
