It involves fusion of one male gamete (haploid) with egg (haploid) to form zygote (diploid) that gives rise to embryo accompained with funsion of other male gamete (haploid) with two polar nuclei (secondary nucleus) to form primary endosperm nucleus (PEN) that gives rise to a nutrivite tissue called endosperm. Hence total of 5 haploid nuclei are involved in double fertilisation process.
