REASONING
In the following questions, the symbols ...

In the following questions, the symbols @ # %, $, T are used with different meanings as follows:
'A@B' means 'A is not small than B'.
'A#B' means "A is not greater than B'.
'A%B' means 'A is neither smaller than nor equal to B'.
'A$B' means 'A is neither greater than nor equal to B'.
'A `top` B' means 'A is neither greater than nor smaller than B'.
In each of the following questions assuming the given statements to be true, find out which of the three conclusions I, II and III given below them is/are definitely true.
Statement: W@V, V#T, T$P, P@Q
Conclusion: I. P%V II. `top`$Q III. Q@V

A

only I & II follow.

B

only II & III follows

C

only II & III follows

D

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
D

According to the question
`W ge V " "` …. (i)
`V le T " " ` … (ii)
`T lt P " "` …. (iii)
`P ge Q " "` …. (iv)
From (ii) and (iii) , we get
P `gt T ge V " "` …. (v)
I. Relation between P and V
From (v) , we get
`P gt V " " [because` conclusion `I implies P gt V`]
So , conclusion I is definitely true .
II. Relation between T and Q
From (iv) and (v) , we get
`implies` no definite conclusion regarding T and Q
So, conclusion II i.e, `T lt Q` is not necessarily true .
III. Relation between Q and V
From (iv) and (v) , we get
`implies` no definite conclusion regarding Q and V .
So, conclusion III i.e, `Q ge V` is not necessarily true .
Therefore , only conclusion I is definitely true.
