(i) Chemicals like BHC and DDT induce carcinoma (muscle cancer) and growth of tumours in humans.
(ii) Unwise handling of non-biodegradable waste materials may cause skin, respiratory and intestinal infections. Non-biodegradable substances do not decompose easily. Such substances, if not disposed carefully, may contaminate our land and ground water resources besides polluting our environment.
