salt is it? When is it called rock salt? How is rock salt formed?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Acid - Hydrochloric acid/HCI
Base - Sodium hydroxide/NaOH
Neutral Salt
When it forms brown crystals combined with impurities
Drying up of seas
Sodium chloride is obtained by the reaction between hydrochloric acid (acid) and sodium hydroxide (base). It is a neutral salt.
It is called as rock salt in crystalline form. Rock salt is formed from a body of sea water which undergoes an intense evaporation process. This is followed by long process of geologic aging resulting in large masses of salt.
