If a mixture of `Na_2CO_3` and `NaHCO_3` weighs 10 g which on heating produces 2.2 g of `CO_2`. Then Calculate the mass percentage of `NaHCO_3` in mixture ?

A

0.54

B

0.84

C

0.68

D

0.42

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
B

`underset("2 mole")(2NaHCO_(3)) overset(Delta) to Na_(2)CO_(3) + underset("1 mole")(CO_(2)) + H_(2)O`
`=1/20` mole
So, mole of `NaHCO_(3) = 1/10`
Therefore, weight of `NaHCO_(3) = 8.4 g`
