Water rises in a capillary tube to a height 2.4cm. If another capillary placed inclined at an angle of 60° with the vertical and having radius one third of the first capillary, then what is the length (in cm) of water rise in tube ?

The correct Answer is:
`14.40`

As `h prop 1/r`
`therefore h_(2)/h_(1) = r_(1)/r_(2)`
`therefore h_(2) = r/(r//3) xx 2.4 = 7.2 cm`
But as tube is inclined, length of water in tube,
`L = h_(2)/(cos theta)`
`therefore L = 7.2/(cos 60^(@)) = 14.4` cm
