In YDSE, the source placed symmetrically with respect to the slit is now moved parallel to the plane of the slits it is closer to the upper slit, as shown then

A

The fringe width will increase and fringe pattern will shift down.

B

The fringe width will remain same but fringe pattern will shift up.

C

The fringe width will decrease and fringe pattern will shift down.

D

The fringe width will remain same but fringe pattern will shift down.

The correct Answer is:
D

Fringe width remains unchanged B= do
`beta = (lamda d)/(D)`
But central bright fringe (zero path difference) Shift downwards therefore whole fringe pattern shifts downwards.

In YDSE, the sources is place symmetrical to the slits. If a transparent slab is placed in front of the upper slit, then

In a young’s double slit experiment the distance between slits S1 and S2 is d and distance of slit plane from the screen is D (gtgt d) . The point source of light (S) is placed a distance (d) / (2 ) below the principal axis in the focal plane of the convex lens (L). The slits S1 and S2 are located symmetrically with respect to the principal axis of the lens. Focal length of the lens is f (gtgt d) . Find the distance of the central maxima of the fringe pattern from the centre (O) of the screen.

In the arrangement shown, S is a point source of monochromatic light. S1 and S2 are two slits located sym- metrically with respect to the source with separation between them d_(1) . Parallel to this slit plane there are two more slits (S3 and S4) at separation d_(2) . These slits are also symmetrically located with respect to S. A screen is at a distance L_(2) from this slit plane. How does the intensity on the screen change with y and d_(1) ?

In YDSE, water is filled in the space between the slits and screen. Then

A parallel beam of monochromatic light is used in a Young's double slit experiment. The slits are separated by a distance d and the screen is placed parallel to the plane of the slits. Show that if the incident beam makes an angle theta=sin^-1(lamda/(2d)) with the normal to the plane of the slits, there will be a dark fringe at the centre Po of the pattern.
