Let the time period of a satellite is 20 hours which is revolving in equatorial plane rotating in the direction of earth's rotation (i.e. west to east). Then the time interval between two consecutive overhead appearances observed by an observer at a fixed point on the Earth is 10x hours. What is the value of x?

The correct Answer is:
12

`T = ( 2pi )/( omega _(s) - omega _(e)) = ( 2pi )/(( 2pi )/( T _(s))- (2pi )/( T _(e))) = ( T _(s) T _(e))/( T _(e) - T _(s))`
`= (20 xx 24)/( ( 24 - 20))`
`therefore T = 120 h`
