Insulin is a n anabolic hormone. It increases the synthesis of fat in the adipose tissue from fatty acids as well as glucose. It promotes protein synthesis in tissues from amono acids. It reduces catabolism of proteins and breakdonw and oxidation of fats by decreasing the enzymes which induce glucoenogenesis, insulin increases the utilisation of glucose in tissues and facilitates the storage of glucose as glycogen. A rise in blood glucose level and blood amino acids stimulates both synthesis and the secretion of insulin.
