Assertion: on stimulation, a muscle cell releases calcium ions `(Ca^(2+))` from sarcoplasmic reticulum.
Reason: By reacting with a protien complex, `Ca^(2+)` uncover active sites on the actin filaments.

A

If both assertion and reason are ture and reason is the corect explanation of assertion

B

If both assertion and reason are ture but reson is not the correct explanation of assertion

C

If assertion is true reason is false

D

If both assertion and reason are false

The correct Answer is:
b

A neural signal on reaching the nerromuscular junction releases a neutrosmitter (acetylcholine) which generates an action potential in the sarcolemma. This spreads through the muscle fibre and causes the release of calcuim ions from sarcoplasmic reticulum into the sarcoplasm. Increase in `Ca^(2+)` level leads to the binding of calcium with a subunit of troponin on actin filaments and thereby removing the mask of active sites for myosin.

Assertion: Plants absorb calcium from soil in the form of calcium ions (Ca^(2+)) Reason: Calcium is required by meristematic and differentiating tissues.

Assertion: The movement of ions into or out of the cells is usually called flux. Reason: The entry or exit of ions to and from the symplast, is an active process.

Assertion: Plants obtain molybdenum in the form of molybdate ions (MoO_(4)^(2+)) Reason: Molybdenum is a component of pollen germination, cell elongation and cell differentiation.

Assertion: As per carbonic acid exchange theory of mineral salt absorption, CO_(2) released during respiration of roots forms 'H_(2)CO_(3) 'when dissolved in soil water Reason: H_(2)CO_(3) dissociates into H^(+) and HCO_(3) ions, where H^(+) ions exchange with anions adsorbed on clay particles.

Assertion: Phosphorus cycle is an imperfect cycle as a sufficient amount of phosphorus combines with Al^(3+) Fe^(2+) and Ca^(2+) to form insoluble and unavailable salts. Reason: Phosphate circulation in abiotic environment in lithosphere as well as in atmosphere.
