The correct Answer is:
C

4 meiotic divisions lead to the formation of four oospheres/oocytes.
1 meiotic division leads to the formation of 4 male gametes.
5 meiotic divisions are needed for the formation of 4 seeds and 500 meiotic divisions are required for the formation of 400 seeds. in production of 400 male gametes, the number of meiotic divisions required is 400 divided by 4= 100.
In 1 meiotic division, 1 megaspore mother cell produces 1 female gamete (4 are produced, 3 degenerate). For the production of 400 female gametes, the number of meiotic division is 400.
So, the total number of meiotic divisions are `100+400=500`.
