Monocots do not show the secondary formation of tissues such as wood and cork. Why?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Vascular bundle in plants is made up of xylem, phloem and vascular cambium. Vascular cambium is a meristematic tissue that helps in secondary growth of the plant. In monocots, vascular cambium is absent and the vascular bundles are scattered unlike in dicots where they are arranged in the form of ring around vascular cambium. Hence, there is no secondary growth.
