Explain the role of muscles in body movements.

Muscles undergo contraction and relaxation for facilitating movement. Muscle attached to a bone undergoes contraction and pulls the bone. The muscles can cause only pulling effect, they cannot show pushing action. Another muscle pulls the bone back in the opposite direction. Thus, two muscles work together to cause the movement of the bone.
