Cuticle is absent on epidermis of roots....

Cuticle is absent on epidermis of roots. Give reason.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Cuticle is a waxy layer which is formed above epidermis of stem and leaves. This layer checks the loss of water from the plants.
If waxy cuticle is present on roots, it prevents absorption of water and salts from soil, hence cuticle is absent in roots.
