Xylem and phloem are specialized vascular tissues which help in conduction of water and mineral salts to the plant. Water is absorbed by roots and transported to different parts of the plants to maintain water balance. Starch is prepared in leaves by the process called photosynthesis and transported to all parts of the plant.
