Antibiotics are effective in curing tuberculosis but not effective in curing common cold. Given reason.

Tuberculosis is a bacterial disease. When antibiotics are used, they stop the growth of bacterial life cycle and do not allow it to develop further. Common cold is a viral disease. Viruses do not have definite shape and form. It is only a piece of DNA or RNA which can replicate only inside host tissue. Virus does not use common biochemical pathways as used by bacteria, hence antibiotics are ineffective to viral disease.
