What is wilting ?...

What is wilting ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Wilting of leaves is the loss of rigidity in them. This happens when a plant does not receive enough water as a result of which the pressure inside the leaves drops. In other words, loss of water from the plants is more than the absorption of water in the plant. When a plant is adequately hydrated, leaves are sturdy and strong, but when a plant is not properly hydrated, the leaves lose their strength and appear drooping and withering.
