Lungs, larynx and glottis are involved in the generation of sound. Lungs, ribcage, diaphragm and abdominal muscle generate a controlled stream of air that passes through the larynx. The flow of air is controlled by the opening and closing of glottis. The vocal cord in the larynx is the elastic fold that vibrates according to the opening and closing of the glottis. Then the air passes through the pharynx, mouth cavity and nose, and the flow of air is controlled by the tongue.
